Dominican born Darius James taught himself on a drum set bought for him by his father at age 12 by listening to the radio and patterning the different styles of music. He later played in church and was a member of the local gospel group Genesis. After Graduating from high school in 1997, Darius was blessed with the opportunity to join the calypso band Versatile, where he played drums on Carnival Cruise Lines for 3 years. In his own words it was like “finding your first love.”
Relocating to Anguilla in 2008, Darius was immediately drawn to the music scene and quickly linked with the most talented and popular musicians on the island. However, in 2011 he became a founding member of the True Intentions Band as Drummer/Singer. The band has a unique sound and capable of playing a variety of music.
To date True Intentions has continued to gain momentum. The band has traveled to a number of the neighboring Caribbean Islands and have also been featured in Moonsplash 2012 and 2013. Their debut album titled “The Experiment” was released in December 2012. In addition, Darius opened the YML recording studio in Anguilla. The only live performance recording studio on the island of Anguilla.
