Leon Mobley

Boston, MA, USA

Biography

Leon Mobley’s natural talent and infectious smile have taken him a long way. From child actor on PBS Television show Zoom to touring the globe as a drummer/ percussionist with Damian Marley (present) or Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals (1993-present) – it is undeniable that Leon is an accomplished musician. Leon has been a signature series artist with Remo who has manufactured and marketed the Leon Mobley custom designed Djembe drum since 1983. The U.S. Department of State provided funding for a 6-week MIMA Africa Tour in Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe featuring the drumming icon Leon Mobley. Leon performs regularly in numerous musical genres including jazz, reggae, and rock. In addition to performing with his band Leon Mobley and Da Lion, he has appeared on the works of many recording artists and has self-produced four CDs of djembe rhythms and songs.
